MENTAL HEALTH FLAG TOUR STOPS IN OKLAHOMA On March 3, 2004, the Mental Health Flag was displayed in Oklahoma City in the Second Floor Rotunda of the Oklahoma State Capitol. The Mental Health Flag was part of Mental Health Day at the Capitol activities. Approximately 850 people were present for the flag ceremony and other activities throughout the day. Lt. Governor Mary Fallin praised Kristy for her advocacy work for mental illness. The Lt. Governor then honored Kristy by presenting her with a certificate making Kristy an "Honorary Lt. Governor of the State of Oklahoma"; which reads in part: "That in faith and confidence and recognition of devoted and loyal service Kristy Worthen has been appointed by me and hereby commissioned an Honorary Lt Governor of the State of Oklahoma." The certificate was certainly an honor for Kristy and very much appreciated. Following her part of the ceremony, Lt. Governor Fallin then signed the Mental Health Flag pledging her support to people in Oklahoma with a mental illness. Lt. Governor Mary Fallin also thanked Leo Hauser of Pfizer
Pharmaceutical Company for being our sponsor, bringing us to Oklahoma
to share our story of hope and help, and encouraging others with a mental
illness to move forward with their lives. Kaye Rote Executive Director of Mental Health Consumers Council was instrumental in our ground transportation and introducing us to key people. Kristy and I visited their office and we were very impressed with the aid they give to people with a mental illness and their dedication to help others.
